Synopsis from Goodreads
Beatrice "Tris" Prior has reached the fateful age of sixteen, the stage at which teenagers in Veronica Roth's dystopian Chicago must select which of five factions to join for life. Each faction represents a virtue: Candor, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, and Erudite. To the surprise of herself and her selfless Abnegation family, she chooses Dauntless, the path of courage. Her choice exposes her to the demanding, violent initiation rites of this group, but it also threatens to expose a personal secret that could place in mortal danger. Veronica Roth's young adult Divergent trilogy launches with a captivating adventure about love and loyalty playing out under most extreme circumstances.

Book Review
I AM VERY LATE READER OF THIS BOOK!!! ARGHH! hahaha!
this book is always compared to the Hunger Games, but when i was reading it i didn't get the similarties for the following reasons
Reason #1: the heroine is nothing like Katniss Everdeen. In this book we are introduced to Beatrice "Tris", when I first get to meet her in the couple pages of the book. I find her very shy,a Prude and very timid and weak, she is not my ideal heroine. and I can't grasp the idea. that I'll deal with a heroine like her, throughout the whole book
Reason #2: the setting of the story is very Perfect, it is not like the environment introduced by Suzzane Collins on THG. Cause Suzzane Collins introduced us to poverty in THG. The world Beatrice lived in is perfect, and the people are nice also, very "selfless" as they call it.
Reason #3: no Gore or brutality whatsoever in the book.
ok.ok.ok. haha... i have rants (i know,i know) when i first started reading the book,it was good. but it wasn't special, wasn't that spectacular or phenomenal. It's like ermmm... reading (haha) i had doubts that i'll like this book. Everything was so common,so normal i haven't got that BAM moment when i was reading it.
This is me while reading it:
but I eventually changed my mind.HAH!!!!
i go from sad, confused and doubtful to awed, amazed, happy and excited
I.ATE.ALL.MY.WORDS.
haaa! i am so sorry that i have a lot of rants at first. *puppy dog Eyes*
but this book is awesome!so Bad ass! and coming for a 23 year- old author and this is her debut novel. CRAP! this is genius! ahaha!
what i like about this book is the way Tris progresses as a character she started first as someone that is weak but as she went through all the trainings and tests she eventually blossomed into something admirable, smart and well of course BAD ASS.
the twists were also great. hmmm i really don't know at first what is a "divergent" GOSH! my mind is really reeling with stuff just to come up with a theory on what kind of abilities and skills a divergent possess and why are they a threat... and also it really shocked me on the romance aspect of the book. i was thinking that maybe Tris will end up to her fellow trainees. but it turns out that she end up with *gasps* FOUR! ahhh! (i know his name is Tobias but i prefer to call him Four) haha!
reading Divergent made me all fluffy and light headed even though it talks about rebellion and stuff, while on the other hand Hunger Games when i finished reading it. I got this certain heaviness but in a good way. Both books are awesome. Both has a certain quality that made them distinct from each other.
SO GUYS AND GALS JUST READ THIS! YOU WONT REGRET IT OK?
However, they are both good enough to stand on their own and not constantly say one is better than the other. I liked them both a lot, I think I am discovering that dystopian books are something I really enjoy. My gut instinct was to say I liked The Hunger Games better, but then I thought about it and I think the reason is that there are three Hunger Games books and only one Divergent one out so far, so we’ve had the whole story about Katniss, but only the beginning of Tris’ story.
