Book Review: Anna Dressed in Blood by Kandare Blake

Synopsis from Goodreads

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

But she, for whatever reason, spares Cas's life.

Book Review

I was so excited to read this book cause for the first time i saw its cover i was so in love with it, never have i seen a very dark book cover, like the cover is enough for me to presume what is the story all about, i actually have this book's cover as my wallpaper on my phone (yeah, yeah i am that obsessed ^^ ).

anyways, let's proceed with the review... the book is actually about Cas Lowood who has the ability to slay ghosts, actually he slays ghost for living, until he met the ghost named Anna, Anna dressed in Blood...

ok, i really enjoyed reading this YA Novel, it's actually my first time to read a YA lit about ghosts, the first couple pages of the book is actually the moment when you really have to grasp the book to keep up with everything, i really find the first couple of pages of the book a bit more climatic than the middle part of the book.

i find Anna a very interesting kind of ghost, the way Cas' describe her is really interesting she is like a ghost that is pretty with a dark edge to it, i can describe her a "Deadly yet Elegant" i was actually mostly looking forward to her story, like how was she killed? what was her life before she became a ghost, and thank god the author provided the most detailed and substantive information regarding my questions, when you know Anna Kurlov's story you will go like "OMG!! this is so much like Carrie's story!" (you know Carrie? the old classic horror movie with the shy and timid girl who turns psycho cause she was spilled with blood while being awarded as prom queen)  that is how much Anna's story s lik,e it was shocking, On how was she killed, it never crossed in my mind that she was killed that way.

another thing i appreciate about this book is that reading from Cas's POV is really how  i expected a boy to think, lot of swearing, curses and stuff like that, i like it cause coming from an author that is a girl (Kendare Blake is a girl right??) writing a novel from a guy's POV is kinda hard and as far as i know many girl author fail to deliver a smooth POV from a boy as their main character. so two thumbs up for ms.Blake you have really done a good job in writing this one fantastic novel. I am mostly looking forward on how cas and Anna's blossoming romance would be like, although it kinda bothers me on how Cas can fall in love with a ghost, not just a ghost but a DEADLY GHOST, but i guess that is the power of love.

i Guess I am not the only one that's looking forward for the next book,  Girl of Nightmares has still have an indefinite date on when will it be published, kyaaa!! I am also looking forward on what will be the cover be like... :))

Book Review

Wow! Clarity is a kind of YA Novel that I will not easily forget so before i start my review let me tell you about the short synopsis of the book, the book is actually about Clarity Fern who is actually not your typical school girl she actually posses a supernatural ability to see through people's memory by touching them, but to make it even better her entire family actually are all a bunch of supernaturals... her brother who can see dead people and her mom that can read through mind. how cool is that?

so my first impression of this book is that it is very cool!!! wow! i have read a couple of crime/ mystery book but this one is pretty much, as far as i can say the coolest of the bunch maybe because i really like Clare's character she is the kind of gal that doesn't beat around the bush she is very straight forward with her decisions, actions and her dialogues are just great. reading the book for me is a lot easier cause Clare is the main character.

the crime and romance is a good mix for me, i like that there are two hot boys that is on target with Clare's heart .. the crime and mystery part is i guess so-so i actually guessed who is the killer, so i wan't that really shocked when it was revealed.... although the romance is something that i really liked. the book actually reminded me of the book The Body Finder.

Overall: this is a must if you are a romance/mystery lover and if you are a TBF fan you will like this also, i would have given the book 4 starts but as I've said i guessed who the killer was, so there, just 3 stars, but i will for sure read the next book. :)
