Book Review

I am very excited to read this book, cause the cover is just so darn awesome, and the title Die for me is something that really caught my attention. i was thinking that there are maybe sacrificial stuff that will happen in this book.

this book is actually about the "undead" or the term used in here are the "revenants"  in my perception, i can say that the revenants are the modern day type of heroes. cause you see they are basically unable to die, if they die they usually came back to life after 3 days of being dormant or more like resting and regenerating their lost energy. and dying to them is more like a compulsion. they die cause their body craves for it.

i encountered a lot of undead guys in YA books that i've read, but there is always a loop hole on how you can kill them, like let's say a vampire can be killed by staking their hearts, a werewolf can be killed by a silver bullet, but a revenant? a revenant cannot be killed, for all i know they want to be killed cause as i've said above , dying is more like a compulsion to them, they crave to be dead. in a way the concept of the book reminds me of Alaric Saltman and John Gilbert's ring from the TV show  vampire diaries.

the plot  of the book is basically about the revenants and Kate (the heroine of the book) and also of course the never ending forbidden love . i can say that this book is a very light read, i did not struggle to finish reading this one.
the concept of the book is something totally new to me but some parts are just a bit confusing and i guess this one lacks adrenaline and a bit of imagination, i mean i love the whole "not dying" concept but i just wished that the information about the revenants are a bit more detailed and intact.

i don't like vincent, i think jules is more of my Eye Candy

so 3 stars for the book. cause even though some parts are not intact or some parts are confusing. i still like this one. and this is just the first book of the series. I'm expecting the second book to be better.

Book Review

this book is the second book of the book series, Forest of hands and teeth, and i absolutely loved the first book because of it's very excellent writing style. and it actually took me a while in reading this book because of some other book obligations.  LOL

this book is about Gabry, at first i thought that this story is about Gabrielle from the first book, but it turns out that, Gabry is Mary's daughter so basically this book is about, The Return being told from about 18 years ago.

When i was reading this ,the first thing i noticed is that the writing style is different from the first one, the first book is actually written in a very eerie way that every time i'm reading it's sending goosebumps in my skin, but this one is kinda written in a very YA-ish way, like normal teens having conversation. I'm not saying that the book is bad cause it's not written like the first one. this installment is actually pretty good. there are some similarities in the first one like:

*Love Triangle--- Gabry is in love with 2 boys ( Elias and Catcher) and she get to kiss them both. good thing she get to choose one at the end.

*Going back to the forest of hands and teeth trying to escape the Mudos.

* Mary is still as annoying as ever.

well those are just some of the similarities that i've noticed but the ending of this book is actually pretty good, and the sibling twist is nice. it's just that i was really struggling to finish this one. so in a way this book is kinda slow paced. but since the ending is nice. i think i'll read the next one too. :)

Book Review

My book review was actually originally posted on Goodreads, since this is my all time favorite book, that i surely will never ever forget. so i decided to make/repost a review here on my blog.. :)
======

what comes to your mind when you hear the word forbidden love? most of us will say romeo and juliet, edward and bella, a fallen angel loving a mortal girl and so on...

well in this book you won't find a vampire loving a human , but a brother and sister who love each other more than friends and more than just siblings. kinda sick right??? it was october 2010 when i saw this e-book at mobiles24.com (most of my mobile ebooks come from this site) while i was brosing i saw this book and can't help but to fall in love with the cover so i searched on goodreads on what the book is all about, first thing that caught my eye is the average rating of the book its 4.46/ 5 stars .. i was like "WOW!!! this book must be super awesome to deserve such rating" but when i read the synopsis i kinda change my mind to read it because of the taboo subject of the book but on the back of my mind i was really curious on what will be the ending of the story i searched every website that i know just to get the plot summary of this book but unfortunately i ended up with nothing.. i only found reviews on how awesome the book is so maybe to get some peace of mind i decided to download it...

Lochan and Maya Whitely are siblings , their lifestyle are different from other teenagers cause their mom doesn't care about them, she always go home drunk. thus leaving Maya and Lochan in charge of taking care of their other 3 siblings .not only that but Lochan actually developed an inferiority complex thus making him very hard to communicate with others and only finding himself opening up to his younger sister, Maya. so anyway i guess their lifestyle really played an important part on why they developed an incestuousness relationship.

when reading the book i was really surprised on how good it is written i usually avoid romantic novels cause i kinda get bored while reading it sometimes i don't even finish them but this book is quite different... i actually ditch my notes, my homeworks just to spend all night reading this book...

when lochan and maya confess their love for each other i was like "hmmm... their relationship kinda wrong??" in every young adult book that i read i always look forward to the love confessing part and everytime that happens can't help but smile and i feel like their are butterflies in my stomach but in the case of lochan and maya i guess i was stone faced, the butterflies in my stomach seems like rocks floating. and i was like "wrong, wrong, wrong just stay like siblings." but as the story goes on you would think that lochan and maya shouldn't be siblings you would say that they are soul mates, partners in crime , best friends, a mom and dad to Willa, Tiffin and Kit.

i have to say that each page is heart clenching there are some parts of the book when i have to stop not because i hate the story but because i'm so sad of their situation imagine you found your love of your life, but you can't even touch, kiss and say "I love you" in public. i feel like crying whenever lochan and maya try and suppress their feelings for each other, can't they just love each other and be happy??? but on the back of my mind i know the answer is a big fat NO! cause i know even though they love each other sooooo much their love is still wrong.
the ending is really bittersweet, aww... i  feel like crying , i feel like throwing something and scream!but i guess the ending is good in a way cause Maya didn't give up.

5 stars is not enough for this book, this book is really excellent. the writing style is really bold. but on some parts i just have to stop cause some parts are a bit graphic. but WOW! this one excellent book. i never regret reading it.

i'm not recommending this book for everyone, ahm  maybe your 15 years old and above with an open mind i guess you'll love this book too.

Book Review

oh my! oh my! just finished reading this very awesome and fantaboulous book ever! yay! the guild hunter series is now one of my favorite book series! :)

in this 3rd installment of the GH series, i can say that this is my fave of them all, oh my! lots of action and blood are present in this book, and we all thought that Elena and Raphael can be together happily regarding the fact that they are now both immortals and their feeling is mutual but wow! i never thought love complications can exist in this book, hah! it turns out that Elena is facing a far more greater challenge and that is facing her "Monster-in-law" haha!
Raphael's Archangel Mother, Caliane has been awaken and she doesn't like Elena to be Rapahel's mate.

i gave the book 5 stars cause we get to unravel Raphael's past and to be honest i really don't know if i still like Illuim. maybe i should switch side? hmmm...

sex is still present in this book but maybe not as intense as the previous one, (no pinching in this book) LOL.

oh my! i am really speechless after reading this. gee, i really want the next book to be out! yay! :)

Book Title : Darkness Becomes Her ( Gods and Monsters #1)
Author: Kelly Keaton
Genre: YA fiction, Paranormal Romance,Fantasy
My Rating: ★★★★★

Book Review

the title of this book series is Gods and Monsters, well the book really lived up to it's title cause this book has Gods (yeah, yeah the Greek ones) and monsters (vampires, harpy, gorgons), sure i encountered gods and monsters combined except maybe for the vampire part, but i never read a book that has gods, monsters, vampires, warlocks and witches. *whoa too much mash-up occurring here*

this book is actually about a girl named ari, who lived a very tough life, her mom left her when she was still a baby and her mom was proven to be demented and killed herself, so she was sent on many foster homes and eventually her foster parents also abuse her, so her suffering doesn't stop from there her features are somehow different because she has different hair color (silver/white) and her eye color is really different among the others.so basically she is a called a FREAK throughout her life. *sighs*

first thing i noticed about Ari is that she use swear words a lot, well i guess i understand that cause her past is really something hard to go through and those are the kind of experience in your life that will eventually will make you as hard as a rock, so anyway i like Ari cause even though she swears a lot i think she is another i guess i admire her determination and perseverance and having like enough strength to move on what happened to her life.

regarding the plot, well i can say that it's a huge roller coaster ride, at first i thought it somehow resembles Beautiful Creatures cause dark magic was very much a theme in the book, but i was so totally wrong! gods and mythology is also in here like medusa and harpy and well Athena, Athena was introduced in this book as being the Goddess of the war not wisdom and she is actually the bitch-est among the bitch-est (OMG! annabeth will be so pissed) Athena here is heartless and well yeah a bitch. LOL ^^. curses are also present in this book and  i am telling you that i wad freaking frustrated on what is Ari's curse is. well it turns out that when she is 21 years old she will become a *TOOOOOOT* gee, i'm so not gonna tell you, don't wanna spoil your reading. haha!

this is an overall a fantastic read. I recommend it to guys and gals who are mythology nerds (like me). :)

Book Review: Warm Bodies By Isaac Marion

Book Summary Via Goodreads
A zombie who yearns for a better life ends up falling in love—with a human—in this astonishingly original debut novel.
R is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. He doesn’t enjoy killing people; he enjoys riding escalators and listening to Frank Sinatra. He is a little different from his fellow Dead.
Not just another zombie novel, Warm Bodies is funny, scary, and deeply moving.

Book Review

this book is actually featured in the twilight saga fan page on facebook, i forgot if Stephanie Meyer was the starred review of the book or if she recommends this book to her fans, so i decided to gave this one a try since as far as i know books that have stephanie meyer as it's starred author are great reads (hunger games and mortal instruments)

anyway this book is actually about a zombie named "R" who fell in love with a human girl. i have read a lot of book were the undead always get to have a love interest with humans but a ZOMBIE loving a human is just so ahm... awkward. Creepy. Disturbing. but maybe the thought of having a zombie loving a human is kinda funny don't you think?

Is the book Funny/humorous?

a BIG HUGE NO! i laugh occasionally on some parts where "R" the zombie get to marry another girl zombie and they get to have kids that will never get old, but reading from a zombies' perspective is kinda boring and R is really emotional cause i feel like he is a patient that is sick and he is incapable of talking and he is really willing to become human again added the fact that he doesn't know anything regarding his past. So i better keep in mind that zombies are a huge NO,NO if i wanna join the undead club

2 stars for the book cause again I am in bored, skip chapters, skim. so i can finish the book, but as the story goes on it's really kinda OK, i just think that there is nothing special to it.

Book Review: Daimon by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book Summary Via Goodreads
For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals—pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards... and that she'll never be prepared for that duty.
According to her mother, that’s a good thing.
But as every descendent of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return—the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill.
The daimons have found her.

Book Review

WOW! greek Mythology is a trend in YA novels these days, this is actually just a teaser from the new book series covenant by Jennifer L. Armentout, this is actually like the Percy Jackson series, so we get to meet another  tough chick demigod, Alex. the only difference of this book is that Alex is fully aware that she is a demigod and she is actually trained in the "covenant" to fight off the daimons.

Overall this is a very nice read, OMG! can't wait for the next book, i didn't actually read the teaser chapter 1 of the first book, cause i know it will make me longing for more.

Early guesses for the next book
-Alex is Appollo's daughter
-the mysterious gray eyed boy in Alex's dreams is maybe a God more like zues' son. ????

the first book in the series is out on September 15,2011...  so mark your calendars!!!

Book Review

check out the book trailer..  *shivers*

This is my first YA book that talks about ghost, i've been reading goosebumps ever since, and R.L Stine really contributed a lot of ghost stories in my childhood, so this is my first YA ghost book, i was expecting to be scared and ready to have nightmares when i finished reading this, cause the book cover really gave me the hibbie gibbies  it's like some demented kid carve out the words "cryer cross" in his desk, and the cover kinda reminds me of freddy kruegger the guy in nightmare at elm street cause he is fond of scaring his victims in  a school setting.

ao anyway, this book is about Kendall and her issues with her OCD, the concept of the book having a character who has OCD is something that i really liked, cause i think i have slight OCD myself but not as bad as Kendall's so in a way i can relate to the main character on how she multiples check everything and organize everything and over thinking things.

the ghost story in this book is kinda OK,  there is a part of the book that is written from the "WE" perspective which is assume were the ghost, and what they are saying is kinda scary cause i really felt their hunger for vengeance and freedom, when the real story is revealed it's kinda sick and it surely gave me goosebumps. the story is good in a very twisted way.

i gave the book 3 stars because the first couple of pages is just about kendall grieving and confused with the loss of her Best friend and she starting to hear alluring voices that is drawing her in and i guess i was wanting more from the story. i wish the story is longer. i recommend this book to guys and gals who wants a good tiny bit of scare.

Book Review: The Fallen Star By Jessica Sorensen

Book Summary via Goodreads

But with Alex seeming to hate her and secrets popping up everywhere, Gemma's life is turning into a chaotic mess. Things that shouldn't be real suddenly seem to exist. And as her world falls apart, figuring out the secrets of her past becomes a matter of life and death

Book Title: The Fallen Star (Fallen Star #1)
Author: Jessica Sorensen
Genre: Young Adult Fiction,supernatural,Romance
My Rating: ★★★★★

BOOK REVIEW

*sighs* isn't the cover so breathtaking?? *sighs* that violet eye is really something.

this book is absolutely amazing! i enjoyed reading every single page of it, the opening is delivered really good cause the opening is about Gemma having this nightmare wherein a pair of glowing eyes is on to kill her.

The concept of the book is hard to get first, cause the title of the book is "The Fallen Star" and i don't get at first it's relation to Gemma, cause Gemma is actually this weird girl who is incapable of feeling any emotion until a new guy came to her class, Alex then she started to feel this electric buzzing, prickling her skin and then it turns out that a fallen star's energy is reeling through her and that energy is needed to open a gate to release the "Death Walkers" who by the way are the creatures hunting Gemma's dreams.

so the first couple of pages I get to read thought from Gemma (it's written in a 1st person POV) so i get to witness how childish she thinks and i guess Gemma mirrored the thoughts of what a normal girl  will think, added the fact that throughout her life she's been branded as a weirdo and a loner, so i enjoyed reading her perspective she is so darn funny BTW, she reminds me of Anna in the Book Anna and the french kiss.

the maybe near half of the book is really good! i was so ready to give it 5 stars a lot of "supernatural" concept is introduced in this book (vampires, foreseers, black angel, keepers, faeries, city of crystals) so yeah, kinda sound TMI to you right? well this book is kinda TMI-ish BUT! this one is so different, kinda resembles TMI but in a good way, cause some added stuff are introduced here and the concept of foreseers is really something new to me.

the ending is such a darn Cliff hanger my mouth was hanging Open! OMG! darn! why did the book end like that, really??? seriously??? i have encountered a lot of cliff hangers, but this one is so darn unforgivable! ha! you wanna know the ending?? i won't tell you! ( using my most teasing voice) you'll just have to read this one to find out.

Book Review: Archangel's Kiss By Nalini Singh

Book Summary Via Goodreads
Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux wakes from a year-long coma to find that she has become an angel-and that her lover, the stunningly dangerous archangel Raphael, likes having her under his control. But almost immediately, Raphael must ready Elena for a flight to Beijing, to attend a ball thrown by the archangel Lijuan. Ancient and without conscience, Lijuan's power lies with the dead. And she has organized the most perfect and most vicious of welcomes for Elena...

Book Title: Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter #2)
Author: Nalini Singh
Genre: adult fiction,fantasy,paranormal romance
My Rating: ★★★★☆

Book Review
i can say that this book is very intense. i mean really intense, since Elena just recently became an angel and the Archangel of NY just claimed her to be his lover/pet (gee, whatever you call it) so the first couple of pages is just about. teasing, groping, pinching (yeah yeah PINCHING!!) (-.-) and *toot* and *toot* and *tooooooooot!!!!!* yay! so basically Raphael is suppressing his urges towards Elena cause he thinks that he might break her, so there is a lot of teasing, call me prude but i think it's kinda too much. haha! just like the first 60% of the book is about that, but on the bright side they do it out of love cause in this book it is proven and without a doubt that Elana and Raphael are two inseparable beings. *awww.. *
is the the second book better than the first one???

a Big,huge YES!!! maybe the first 60% is just what i stated above but the remaining 40% goodness! it's filled with mystery, gore and action cause in this book Elena is having nightmares regarding her past, her mom and two sisters were killed by a vampire(i forgot his name) so her past is haunting her and well i think Elana's past is what i'm looking forward to in the next book.

another thing is Lijuan the Chinese archangel who makes zombies or reborns as they call it and i find her really creepy, cause archangels make vampires not zombies, so another on the look out in this book is lijuan the creepy zombie maker. LOL

a lot  of angels are introduced in this book also.

guild hunter,raphael,illuim,elena,nalini sighn

just saw this fan art @ nalini's blog... and i am telling you! i am dying of cuteness here.. haha! oh well i am more interested to know the blue winged angel :"> am not much of a fan of a pinching archangel.. KIDDING!! i like to know Illuim cause he is more outgoing than raphael.. hoping to see him more in the next book.
I WILL DEFINITELY READ THE NEXT ONE

Book Review

i have seen a lot of reviews that this one is very twilight-ish, i didn't believe it cause does the title Deadly Little Secret sound twilight in the making to you??? i don't think so.

but then this is the first scene of the book

the very famous car saving scene in twilight, so i was still in denial that this one is twilight in the making kind of book. but then the resemblance are piling up like:

camelia and ben became LAB PARTNERS. and Ben has this "cold" touch

another one is
the confession in the forest. on what is Ben's Deadly Little secret. *sighs*

so let's cut to the chase
this is somehow resembles twilight and to be honest i didn't enjoy reading this book sure there are mysteries on the side, but i find the mystery part predictable, and i don't like the dialogues in this book, maybe may E-book copy is just messed up. but people talk here like kids. (awww. i'm sooo sorry) well maybe the only redeeming thing here is the concept of "psychometry"  I find it interesting i didn't know that Rogue's power (from X men) is called Psychometry. *sighs* i'm not up for the second book.. have seen bad reviews of it also, :(

“Just lucky, I suppose,” I said cheerfully, as we hurried away before the rest of the pack could arrive.

Kate- kate is actually the nicest daughter in the whole wide universe! she actually gave up her teenage life for taking care of her mom who has cancer. she won't date or go out and have a time of her life, she is actually a SAINT! cause to her time is precious she rather spend her time with her mom, cause she thinks the time left for her is ticking and she is actually a good friend she doesn't hold grudges to people who hurt her.

Henry- Henry is the lord of the underworld in this book, so basically he is Hades, i grew up thinking hades is a bad guy, but in this book Aimee Carter introduced a very different kind of Hades, the misunderstood kind, cause Hades in this book is so gentle the kind of guy you will to take home and meet your mom and dad, the kind of guy you will want to spend your life with and henry's lines in this book are so poetic the kind that will make your heart melt. haha!

PLOT/Setting:

so this is again another retelling of the "rape of Persephone" but this one has a little something to it because Kate is should pass seven kind of test to make her immortal. so basically another added myth retelling here is "Labors of Hercules" wherein hercules has to finish 12 tasks enable to gain immortality after his death.

i don't know if some myths are messed up or changed cause some facts about mythology are different here like:

- Persephone was not kidnapped she was willing to become queen of the underworld, then she fell in love with a mortal, when that mortal died she chose to come with him and left hades
-14 Olympians/ Council (erm.. as far as i know there are only 12)
-diana is the roman name for Demeter ( ahm, Diana is actually the roman name for Artemis, goddess of the wild)
-different names for the gods and goddesses
-cereberus is a great dane (haha! i'm that observant eh?. LOL. i'm just kidding i don't care if cereberus is a great dane or a 3 headed dog) haha!

well i don't know if these are true or maybe Aimee Carter just changed some Myth facts in order to have a good flow of the story but Mythology can actually be derived in different time and places so maybe she get these facts in some other myths.

i gave the book 4 stars cause even though some myths are different, i like how this book is written this is a very light read, you actually wouldn't know that you are about to finish the book, and i like how Aimee Carter cut Hades some slack,  cause she showed a different kind of lord of the underworld here the one that is tormented and humble.

so i wanna read the next book cause as far as i can see i am sensing a love triangle here cause James i think is also in love with Kate, so let's see how will the 2 gods fight for their hearts. :)

***Gabby is a Mythology nerd ^^*** LOL

Book Review: Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh

Book title: Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter#1)
Author: Nalini Singh
Genre: Adult Fiction, Fantasy,Paranormal Romance
My Rating: ★★★★☆

 BOOK REVIEW
i really have to keep in mind that adult angel books are way, way, way, way better than YA angel books.! yay!
this book really lived up with my expectation on what an adult fantasy novel is like this book is VERY dark, filled with lust, passion, intense emotions and hardcore action scenes.

what really got my attention is the concept of the book, i have read a lot of vampire novels and it is always stated in those novels that to make a vampire (a fledgling) one has to die first and be fed by vampire blood or get bitten by a vampire and so on, but in this book angels make vampires, and that's something new to me who would have thought that angels who are so fine and gentle are responsible for making vampires... angels here are somehow evil, erotic, and possessive in this book not sarcastic and fun loving in YA novels that i used to read.

Since this is an adult fantasy novel expect a bit of vulgar words, profanity and a  bit of sex (a bit is kinda understated :P),blood and gore as I've said angels here are different, they posses mind control that made girls want to sleep with them.
so the first couple of pages in this book is how Raphael (the archangel of NY) try to mind control Elena of pursuing her on having some kind of erotic pleasure, i was actually confused with their relationship cause they copulate not because of love but because they treat each other as play things or a toy and Raphael is just so darn hard to read i really don't know if he is just possessive with Elena cause she is his "toy" or he really does love her but in the end i got an answer to my question because...

"Ambrosia only rises when an archangel loves true"  *giddy*

this is an overall a great read, some parts are kinda boring cause they keep on blabbering and blabbering about Uram and vampires and (blah, blah) but once there is an action scene in this book it will make you go "OMG!" and I'm a sucker for anything gothic and this one is a bit gothic-ish and i like how angels are in this book , they have this so called "angel dust" and according to the book it is way, way, way better than any kind of drug... i'm excited to read the next novel cause Elena is an *gasp* ANGEL!!! yay! and i am looking forward to her relationship with Raphael.. YAY!

if you are fond of reading YA novels this one may shock you, so better prepare yourself LOL

BOOK REVIEW

ah! the second book of the fever series... hmmmm. this book started a wee bit to slow for me, the reason i gave it 3 stars, although i really like Mac and Jericho's dialogues! hahahaha! OMG! they are like kids, they communicate through their eyes?! ha! who does that? really it's kinda bizzare but they are cute together they really complement each other...

in this book i really love MacKayla Lane! yay! she is on my list my favorite book heriones. this book is her shining moment, she porved that she is a worthy character in this book.

i just have question to those who love Jericho Barrons.. do you think something's wrong with me? ha! i really don't find Jericho attractive he is like the mixture of Jace Wayland and Dmitri Belikov and oh trust me not a kind of combination you want to see, he is leaves snarky comments and everything but once you piss him off, Ay-yay-yay! he won't care what you are or who you are he'll definitely hurt you! i just find him like this egotistic sadist. yay! (shields thyself) haha! maybe i get to love him in the next books.?

i'm still up for the next books, since i gave this one a 3 star rating i'm not that excited to read the other books but i'm still up for them, i still wanna read it. :)

Book Review

My second John Green Novel.i don't know what's with John Green that everytime i finished reading his novel, i am speechless and dumbfounded for a reason i can't point out, but i know in the back of my mind i enjoyed every single page of reading his book.

up until now i am still speechless,so I'm gonna make a brief review.

since I've read looking for Alaska First and then this one, and i can't help but compare their similarities like:

- having an impulsive, prankster, adventurous girl in the story (Alaska and Margo) *check*
- "Boys will be Boys" conversation*check*
- realistic teenage characters *check*
- an unusual name for boys (Quentin and Miles) *check*
- a road trip with friends with adventures on the side *check*
- unrequited love *check*
- humor, humor and a whole lot of humor *check*
- a goody two shoes main character who somehow learned to take risks(Q and Miles) *check*
- i laugh my head off while reading it and then all of a sudden i was brawling my eyes out  *check*
- i gave them both 4 stars *check*

so what made this book so special or different from looking for Alaska???

well i learned in this book that people are not like a note written on a paper that can be easily be read or understood, sometimes people tend to see what they WANT to see. Q thinks he loves Margo cause she is this very Hot,awesome and pretty girl but throughout his journey of finding her, Margo's clues did not only lead to her but also finding out her true identity. i guess what the book is trying to convey to it's readers is that sometimes our view of a certain person will never be enough to really know what that person really is.

i know the plot of the story resembles a lot with looking for Alaska but that didn't stop me of loving this book. wee.. let's read more John Green Novels.. :)

"Margo was not a miracle. She was not an adventure. She was not a fine and precious thing. She was a girl."

Book Review: dark fever by Karen Marie Moning

Book title: DarkFever (Fever#1)
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Genre: Adult Fiction, Urban Fantasy
My Rating:★★★☆☆

I was searching for an adult fantasy book and this suddenly popped out on the computer screen and well, i was shocked i mean the book cover has EROTICA written all over it, and oh believe me the last thing that i wanna read is an erotica novel, i am still cringing on my encounter with the claiming of sleeping beauty
but then i learned that this book is about Faeries, and i was excited to read it! cause i have i wee bit knowledge about faeries my only reference is TMI and the Iron fey series and the faerie world is not actually the kind of world that i'm familiar with, so why not give this one a try.

in this book we get to meet MacKayla (Mac) Lane she is a 22 year old bartender who recently loss her sister,Alina in Dublin. Alina is found dead in an Alley way and  left her sister cryptic message on her phone's voice mail , due to Mac's  curiosity and desire for vengeance on her sister's death she decided to fly all the way to Dublin to solve her sister's murder herself.

I really don't know what to expect from an adult fantasy novel, since this is written form a 1st person POV we get to read the thoughts of Mac and well to be honest Mac's thoughts are still like reading thoughts from a teenager and i  understand that she is only 22 years old, but then she realized she has an ability to see through Faerie Glamour she is a sidhe-seer (she-seer) to be exact and oh, that's where the adult stuff came in, cause you see in this book we get to see more of the faeries on the Unseelie side (the dark side), Faeries in this book is not as humorous or as good looking as Puck and Ash, faeries in this book is erotic and has rather an unwordly appearance,Faeries in this book will make you wanna have sex and make you horny, so OK this book has a bit of erotica in it, but it's like the manageable kind of erotica, not the i-will-give-you-nightmares-kind. (lol)

in this book we get to also meet Jericho Barrons, well as described by Mac he is oozing with sex appeal but i find Jericho the kind of guy that is too much Dimitri Belikov in him, i mean he is the kind of guy that will intimidate you and he is the kind of guy that has loads of mystery in him and i think he an Mac will make a cute couple cause Jericho is all mystery and seriousness and perfectionist while Mac on the other hand has master the art of bluffing and has a whole lot of pride in her system, i think they complement each other. :)

i gave the book 3 stars cause i like the faerie concept in this book, it's actually good to know the dark side of the faeries, and another plus is having Mac as a main character in this book,  the book is an overall good read not that good and not that bad. this book is an enough teaser for me to want to read the next one. if you want to broaden your knowledge about the faerie world you may wanna try to read this one.

book review

woooh! just finished reading CoFA! the wildly anticipated book of 2011. *inhales* *exhales*

i was really scared to read this book, cause i love this series, probably one of the best series i've read so far and i have seen a lot of bad reviews about this book and i'm the kind of reader that stops reading a certain book if i didn't like the previous one. so any-who i still manage to give it four stars. but i still don't know if i gave the proper rating. sheesh! this book is really hard to rate and judge! so anyway let's proceed to my review.

Book Cover:

my first time to criticize a book cover. yay! so here's the thing i really don't know why Clary is in the book cover. i mean come on?! what did Clary do in this book ahm hmmm let's see... straddle her legs in jace's hips, kiss Jace's lips, grope Jace's muscle and a lot of groping,kissing,groping... haha! ok. i'm not an anti clary but i really don't get the idea of her being in the cover. i guess it will be OK if simon is in the cover, cause simon is really kick ass in this book he is the only reason that the story is strring.

--

in my review in City Of Glass, i stated there that i wish that Jace and Clary won't lost their spark, cause you see when love is not forbidden anymore it kinda losses it's magic. well DANG! i think they lost it's spark! *grunts* well their love is still kinda somehow still forbidden but sheesh! when jace is pulling away from Clary and those "i-don't-wanna-lose-you-and-i-can't-stay-with-you-cause-i-might-hurt-you" crap is so...so...so... EDWARD CULLEN-ish! and the last thing i wanna do is to compare Jace to Edward! ay-yay-yay.!

on the plus side!
-i adore SImon! i super love SIMON! i worship SIMON!
awww! simon is soooooooo hot in this book! haha! i think i'm gonna be team simon now *weep*
-i like how ms.Clare introduce me to Camille and Lilith. they are pretty interesting characters. :)
-i love the Rain-Alley scene! yay! too bad izzy showed up.. :(

so did this book disappoint me?

well i'm 30% disappointed 70% satisfied. but it would be a really, really wise choice if Cassandra Clare just ended the book in City of Glass.

i was actually thinking of giving this book a 3 star rating but the ending is really good! and i guess i so-so kinda like the groping and kissing scene of jace and Clary. so i am not kinda actually excited for the next book, i mean i guess i can wait for it, i guess i won't go insanely crazy when the book is out. haha! i am more looking forward to Simon and Izzy relationship.

so here is actually the reason why i'm not excited for the next book:

* i hate seeing Jace being all tormented again! huhu. i hate it when he will torture himself again, and i hate it when those pianist hands of his will kill all the people he loves oww! and i know sebastian will do anything EVIL... gosh! i really can't bear the thought of Jace hurting Clary or anyone... ahhhh! i better fancy Simon instead so that it will be easy for me to accept the story line of the next book. haha~ XD.

book review

♪ ♫ You can buy a hair if it won't grow, you can fix your nose if he says so, you can buy all the make-up that M.A.C can make But if you can't look inside you Find out who am I too, Be in the position to make me feel So damn unpretty♪ ♫
Unpretty-TLC

i decided to read this book cause this book is always featured in listopia (a feature on goodreads) it says that if you like Hunger Games you will like this book as well, since i just finished reading Mockingjay and I'm kinda looking for a YA dystopia kind of book that is as good as The hunger Games so i gave this one a shot.

This book is about in a society where everyone is classified as being Pretty and Being Ugly.the Pretties lives in New Pretty town while the Uglies lives in Uglyville, but as you turned 16, everyone is required to go through a transformation of being Pretty, So our Gal, Tally is anxious to be pretty cause she is excited to be her best friend Peris who just recently undergone the transformation of being a Pretty, but Tally can't become one of the Pretties unless she'll help Dr.Cable to find her runaway friend, Shay. if she refuse to cooperate she will stay as an Ugly FOREVER!

so first thing first, this book is nothing like the Huger Games.
i guess the concept of the way the people in the society lives is pretty cool, can you imagine living in a life where you are subjected to be pretty?no one will tease you and make fun of you, but in the back of my mind i find it morbid to defy to change the way we look. i just finished reading the book and up until now i don't get the essence or the author's point on why in this book they have to make everyone pretty. if people in this book just want to control the minds of people in their society, why can't they just do that? why do they have to make them pretty too???

as for the characters,
Tally at first i find her annoying cause she is soooo darn desperate to be a Pretty, but as you read on i can't actually blame her for wanting to be pretty cause all her life, her 16 years of existence she is branded as an Ugly and the way they used the term Ugly in this book is like you are an outcast to the society, the term UGLY is being referred as of today being called POOR, while being pretty on the other hand is like being called RICH. I actually like Shay more than Tally. cause Shay is like the kind of girl that is so Katniss-like, i actually thought she is the main character of the book cause she is the one determined to defy the society's law of being pretty, and i like the fact that she likes the way she looks.

i guess the moral of the book is Beauty is skin deep. that's the Moral i got form David and tally's relationship. but i don't feel any spark between them their relationship has no magic effect on me.

i gave this book 2 stars cause it is a tolerable book, some parts are boring and i guess there is no point of the book where i was excited to read it. the ending didn't even make me excited for the next book. so i guess i recommend this book if you just wanted something to read, or you just want to kill the boredom that you are experiencing.

Abandon

Book Summary Via Goodreads
New from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.
Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.
But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.
Only she can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.
But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

Book Title: Abandon (Abandon #1)
Author: Meg Cabot
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy, Chick Lit

My Rating:
★★★☆☆

    Book Review
this is my first Meg Cabot Novel, I only know Meg Cabot for writing the Princess Diaries series, so i read this book thinking that it's a chick lit novel. eventually i was wrong. this book is actually about the retelling of "The rape of Persephone" it's the old Greek myth where Hades, the lord of the underworld kidnapped Persephone and made her queen of the underworld. (ha! thanks to the Percy Jackson series for giving me this info) ^^

so basically the book's main character is Pierce Oliviera, she died once and escaped her death. Along with her coming back to life she brought a necklace with her, a necklace given to her by John or should I say the Hot version of Hades. LOL, that is supposed to keep her away from evil forces (the furies). so at first when i am reading this book i was a bit confused cause the intro did not exactly explained Pierce's death or her coming back to life. since i seldom read book synopsis, so eventually i have no idea what's going on the story, but as you read on you will get the whole idea of her death and her connection to John.

so did i like the book?

well actually some parts are tolerable, i keep on thinking on it's relation to the "rape of Persephone" cause Pierce actually escaped the underworld by throwing a hot cup of tea to John's face so meaning she is not held captive in the Underworld unlike in the myth.
this is told from Pierce POV, i don't know if she is really naive or that she doesn't really have sufficient knowledge on her surroundings, she is just kinda actually an impassive character in this book.

as for John, well ha! John is actually my eye-candy... eepppp! i have a huge crush on him he reminds me of Dimitri of vampire academy.

in overall the book is an OK read, kinda boring in some parts but the ending is good, and I'm a sucker for Greek myths and any mythology related books. so I'm quite satisfied on this one, i recommend it to people who like Greek myths as well.

so this book is actually a trilogy and i guess I'm looking forward for the next two books. :)

book review

characters

Amy- erm... Amy? what to say about Amy? Amy is actually a very neutral character in this book, you neither lover her nor hate her, she is not actually the type of heroine the you will love or get annoyed, i mean she is very neutral! i guess she is what you call an "in between" . i can describe her as being very inquisitive, smart and she loves her parents so much. so yeah i don't feel any character attachment to Amy.

Elder- yes, that's his real name! :). when i first met elder there is one word to describe him a pervert! ha! he actually likes looking at Amy naked on the frozen glass chamber plus having some perverted thoughts, he is very attracted to Amy cause she is different, cause you see in the godspeed (the spaceship) they are all mono ethnic meaning that they all look alike, so seeing Amy being all different with sunset hair and fair skin he is really fascinated with her.well his fascination led to something... hmmm.. let's just say that his fascination with Amy made him do something impulsive. *wink*

so elder is actually the future leader of the ship,he is thought by his mentor Eldest. at first i thought his a pervert but he is actually nice if you read on, i like the fact that he is not a "power hungry" type of leader like eldest

this my friends is the Godspeed! the whole book evolve around this spaceship, but even though the author made the setting of the story only in this spaceship, the author described it in the way, that you will not think that the characters are only moving on a limited place. i find this spaceship really cool, actually everything is described here being all so futuristic.

the plot of the book is actually about Amy being frozen with her parents in Godspeed ,they are expected to be awakened when they landed a whole new type of earth, so basically they should be awakened 300 years after, but Amy on the other hand was awakened 50 years earlier. and not only that but a lot of people is being murdered on their glass chamber, and its up to Amy and Elder to uncover who is the real murderer and uncover the lies on the ship.

the book is actually a page turner cause i am really anxious to know who is the murderer.

in a way the book is kinda weird cause of all the people in the spaceship being all impassive and being all zombie-like because of the drugs being spiked in their water. the "season" is another intriguing thing in this book, it actually means that it is the time of the month were people in the ship are about to mate like animals, they can all do it publicly like what animals does. >:) haha.

------

overall this book is actually nice, if you like mysteries and murder with a little hint of sci-fi on the side you get to actually like the book... my only criticism is that i don't feel any character attachment and the ending is kinda confusing, you really don't know who to trust in the end. :)

Author: Suzanne Collins
My Rating: ★★★★★

Book Review

My name is Katniss Everdeen.

Why am I not dead?

I should be dead.

Mockingjay! Mockingjay! I guess I’m the only person living on earth who hasn’t read this book yet, but you see this book was out in hard bound and I don’t buy hard bound books, but I luckily spotted a paperback edition of this book at NBS , so I guess I am one lucky gal to spot the last copy of this book in paperback*smug smile*

The first thing I spotted about mockingjay is it’s very low average rating (4.04) and I was incredulous! I can’t believe that this book has a low average rating I mean, come on! This is hunger games we are talking about, HUNGER GAMES! It’s average rating is almost as same as Hush, hush and angelfire and I didn’t even finish reading those books! I even regretted reading those two books. BLAH! So I was ballistic and my OCD just kicked in to its highest level. :D

Well, well after reading MJ do I think it deserved a low average rating? Well I guess. because you see MJ is not like THG and CF. cause THG has heart pounding adrenaline kicking in to it, while CF on the other hand has a mind boggling twist and cliff hanger, but MJ? MJ is kind of depressing cause in this book it actually talks about the actual rebellion, the aftershock, the WAR, the rebels and Katniss being the mockingjay and a LOT of people really died in this book, my fingers are not enough to count them all and the dying and murders just happens soooo fast one blink and BAM! He is dead another blink and BAM! She’s dead.

But those are just the couple of pages the next pages will caught you of guard! Damn! Especially part 2 and part 3, sheesh! All the blood and gore is in there all the twist and “unexpected”. And as for the peeta fans out there, our boy with bread is not the same as we saw him in the previous books, he is not actually the smiling and sweet Peeta we used to know. Hmmm. I won’t tell you why cause that will be like a huge spoiler that I will reveal. Haha!

I gave this book 5 stars because maybe I am not expecting this kind of ending, and MJ may not be as great as THG and CF but this one has a certain depth in to it, like how katniss cope up with all the things that happened in her life and the economic, political and ethical state of panem the turmoil that each and everyone has gone through. And I like it how peeta and katniss get to have kids. The epilogue is a really nice touch to be honest. :)

Well, I am really gonna miss the girl on fire I’m actually happy that I get to meet katniss everdeen , maybe in the near future I wanna be like her (I’m already 18 but WTH right? A girl can dream) I’m not wishing to be a face of rebellion but I wish I can be like her you know? Being fierce and tough hard-headed yet knowing her limitations. Katniss Everdeen is a legend and she will be forever marked in my mind, and I love Suzzane Collins for making a great YA heroine. So yeah girl on fire I’m gonna miss you and may the odds be ever in your favor. :’) *sniff, sniff*

"you see that? fire is catching! and if we burn, you burn with us"

***i'll never ever forget this line! sheesh! this line gave me goosebumps!

anyways this actually gonna be a movie, and i know i'm not the only one ranting about Josh Hutcherson playing Peeta i think he is more suitable to play Gale.... (who agrees with me?)

this is how i picture Peeta

i know some people will disagree but when i first saw chord overstreet on glee i was like "OMG! it's Peeta Mellark in the flesh!" haha! so i'm looking forward to the movie even though i'm not a big fan of the picked cast, but we'll see. ;)
