Book Review: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Synopsis from Goodreads

Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.

It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.

There is.

She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.

She's wrong.

Book Review

this book has a very interesting synopsis and of course the book cover is actually enough for everyone to go GAGA, well if you are like me that was so itching to read this book, i can tell you that this book was not as great as i thought it would be. sure Mara Dyer's story is something that is really interesting, she woke up in a hospital, her friends are dead and she is the only one who survived and no one knows what happened to them except for her, but here's the catch she has no memory of what happened to her.

Something really interesting eh? well at first yes, it was interesting. but as the story goes on i can't help but to feel a little bored, Mara Dyer is the kind of character that i just so love to hate, i really don't know what is wrong with her she seems like the kind of girl that doesn't think of rational actions the only thing that makes the story tolerable is the mystery that lies in the life of Mara Dyer, the hallucinations and stuff are a bit eerie, kinda scary to be honest.

as for the dashing dude of the story,Noah. he is actually the only bad boy in YA Fiction that i wasn't drooling for, i guess because he is just so darn arrogant and well an A-Hole kind of dude.

when the mystery was revealed, I was Like "DANG!!! THAT'S IT???" i have been so tolerable of Mara and Noah cause i wanna know what kind of powers they posses but man! after i found out what kind of powers they posses i was really disappointed, i really think their powers are not that useful to humanity and for a girl like Mara to posses that kind of power is just well, a bad combination. Noah on the other hand has a good power lies within him, but erm the powers showed here is kinda off for my taste *spoilers* Imagine a girl who kills people by using her mind and a boy who heals any kind of injuries. ermmmm.... i don't get the point of it and all, what does this means? that fate brought Noah and Mara together so that Mara can kill or injure all kinds of people and Noah can fix it. Teehee.. didn't mean to Rant and all. harhar! >:)

overall: if you are so darn excited to read this book, please don't expect too much cause you'll be disappointed. I was suppose to give the book 2 stars but since i am lusting over the cover and the ending is good might as well give an additional star. :D
