Book Review: Until I Die by Amy Plum

Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love. As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy. In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.

BOOK REVIEW

so this would be the second book of the Revenants series, and to be totally honest I forgot some parts of the first book was, so I was a bit clueless when I was reading this , some characters I was a bit not familiar to them the only character that I remembered the most are Kate and Jules , I remembered Jules cause I was rooting him for Kate and I remember Kate cause well... she is the main character, so in other words , I forgot what the first book was all about and some parts I remember but not all of them, so I was uncertain if I should read this one, but its something about the summary that made me want to read it, even though I can be somehow confused if I read on.

Turns out when I've read this one, I recalled some of the events that occurred in the first book (THANK GOD!) and I had somehow read this one smoothly, some changes happen, like I admire Kate character progression in the book, woah! Kate giving the finger to one of the revenants was really bad ass!! woah! really caught me off guard, and I  can say that she became tougher and stronger in this book than the previous one, the story line was somehow good, but in my opinion the story isn't much exciting as I thought it would be, I admire the short story of the "Immortal Love" introduced in a book, and for me, I dig more of their love story than Kate and Vincent's and well... I've guessed that who the bad guy was, I mean it's not that hard to predict that Viollette is one psycho revenant, her sugary sweetness toward Kate is not really ordinary, so I smelled something fishy about her character. hah!!! caught you there Violette. So I wasn't surprised how the whole book turn of events were.

The ending was really sad, I feel soooo Sad for Kate, poor girl. can't believe that the book ended that way. hmmm. well my guess for the next book, would be Kate looking for a remedy that happened to Vincent, or she will turn a revenant herself (is that possible)

Overall: the book was predictable but still worth reading, that's why I gave it 3 stars, I'll read the next book for sure, and I am hoping for more developed storyline... :)

  1. lore and strong characters all set in the beautiful city of Paris.

The story is orientated to a more in depth look at Revenant lore so we are plunged deeper into their background and history. Amy Plum has created a very unique lore and her attention to detail weaves a rich tapestry of romance, action and fun. Vincent remains the noble revenant but with his love for Kate he seeks to find a solution that both he and Kate can live with. This creates the basis of the plot for book 2.
The characters are well drawn and make the story. This novel isn't as fast paced as Die For Me but it adds new characters that are incredibly enjoyable. Georgia, Kate's sister, is more involved in the story and livens things up. Georgia's confidence is an excellent example of a confident girl, self-assured girl. Arthur is cranky but surprisingly intriguing. And Violette is a lot of fun, outgoing, and charming when she wants to be. The new characters and more Georgia add a great new level to this already great story.
Overall Until I Die will leave readers longing for the final book. The ending is a dramatic cliffhanger that not every author could pull off but Amy Plum does it well.
